It's Week #50: Body

To be shot and submitted between Sunday, Dec 6 and Sunday, Dec 13 (noon, Eastern)

Tips and Tuts for this week:

    • Think Abstract. Manipulate your depth-of-field and/or focus, to achieve some creative abstract shapes of the human form.
    • Nude / Bodyscape – This week is a great opportunity to try out creative nudes and bodyscapes. Check out these videos that go into a bit of how to setup a bodyscape and general nude portrait photography: High Contrast Nude Photography, One light – body details,Nude portraiture.  (Disclaimer: I don’t really appreciate the tone of some of these videos, and I don’t think the male photographers are being respectful to their subjects, but I share these so that at least you can get some idea of what’s involved, and can hopefully inspire you to come up with similar ideas of your own). [Oh, and obviously NSFW]**Please note – if you are submitting a nude photo, please tick the appropriate checkbox on the form, so we can censor it for Facebook. A link to your photo will be provided in the description.
    • Go for detail – Get macro in the world of the human body, or focus on individual body parts.
    • Go for the non-obvious – Too shy to delve into the subject of the human body? Go for another body of work (see what I did there?) Have your subject imply a body (chalk on the ground of a “murder scene”, clothing that outlines a body, body of water, or perhaps a social commentary on what we feel is the ideal body today.) It needn’t be nude and it needn’t be immodest by whatever your standards are –be creative!

Check out some visual inspiration from Framers, here, and here.

Check out this amazing video: 119 poses in 40 seconds. Great for photographers AND for models that want to practice!

Looking for more inspiration? Check out our previous albums, Body Parts, and Abstract.

    And, of course, The Googles.

Extra Credit: Inspired by Allan Teger

For some extra credit joojoo, you can emulate the very creative bodyscape photographer,Allan Teger, who combines high-contrast bodyscape nudes with small props, creating a believable scene, in this macro human-shaped universe. Also, obvious, NSFW!

**Please note – if you are submitting a nude photo, please tick the appropriate checkbox on the form, so we can censor it for Facebook. A link to your photo will be provided in the description.

Have fun with it and of course, check out the Googles for some inspiration.

Remember, it is not necessary to work in this Extra Credit piece. It’s extra credit!
