Week 44: Inverted

Photo by: Betty Greenspan –  Week 24: Think (2017)

This week at 52Frames we are going to play with one of the basic characteristics of light, the fact that it usually travels in a straight line.

This means that not only do our eyes ‘see’ everything upside down but so too do our cameras. The pentaprism or pentamirror in cameras and our brains re-invert these images to turn everything the right way up.

But we, creative Framers, are going to invert the re-inverted! Or re-invert the inverted..?? Or just take some cool upside down photos. This could be a puddle reflection or a levitation, a forced perception photo, a symmetrical photo or a photo of a yogi. Or just a nice photo that you have turned upside down.

There are not so many examples of inverted photography which means that WE are going to have to be really creative and set the example. So go and stand on your head (or turn your camera upside down!) and let’s literally turn some heads people! 🙂

Tips and Tuts for this week:

Looking for more inspiration? Again, we are making 52Frames history but there are some ideas on Pinterest, Instagram, and Flickr. And of course the Googles. Oh, you sweet Googles.

Extra Credit: Self-portrait

For some extra photographic joo-joo take an upside down photo of yourself!
