I love lamp. This week’s challenge is a great way to capture a simple object that most of you already have sitting right there next to you. Whether you try and craft a story, or choose to work on your lighting techniques, sometimes its best to start with a simple object, and brainstorm from there!

Tips and Tuts for this week:

  • Light your subject! Using one light source is a great intro into learning how to light with off-camera flash. I even wrote a blog post about it.
  • Forget the light! Create a scene with a lamp. Give it a personality. Find other lamps outside of your house.
  • Take a night shot. Go for a walk. Capture street lamps, or car headlights. This isn’t exactly what the challenge calls for, but would definitely be in the realm of your interpretation if you are struggling to get it done indoors.

“Roll of Film” Challenge

For some extra credit joojoo, see if you can get your shot in 12 tries! No need to use actual film here, but the point of this exercise is to pretend you are shooting with only a 12 roll, and you have 12 clicks to get it done. Focus more on prep, less on hitting the shutter. Good luck! 🙂

Remember, it is not necessary to keep this Extra Credit challenge in mind while shooting. It’s extra credit!

*Please note!! You can only submit ONE photo per week, for the week’s challenge. This photo can include the “Extra Credit” part of the challenge, or the “regular” challenge, but you can never submit more than one photo!
