It's Week #21: My Bedroom

52Frames has over 500 people submitting each week from 60 different countries. The bedroom is one of those places that says so much about a person and their culture, but is rarely seen.
This is one of those weeks where you want to focus on your “story”. Don’t get hung up on what your bedroom looks like, but allow the camera to craft your story; let us in to your world.
Find an interesting article or tutorial to share about upcoming challenges?
Help me out with this section! Add your links to this doc, and I’ll include your best tips and tuts!

 Tips and Tuts:

  • Andrea Brownstein posted this article in our FB group, which prompted the discussion of creating this theme. Use this article as inspiration.
  • While you’re looking at articles, check this one out, and perhaps more to their point, this one
  • Find your character. Don’t just look at your room, but look at the stories within it. Close up of an analog alarm clock? Do you make your bed? How many pillow do you use? Bedframe or mattress on the floor? Studio apartment? All these things lend to your “story”. Look for it, capture it, and share it.
  • Use natural light. If you have the ability, shooting during the day will give you a big headstart in getting the right exposure for this indoor shot.

Looking for more inspiration? As always, check out The Googles! Oh you sweet Googles.

 Extra Credit: Studio Portrait!

For some extra credit joojoo, try a self portrait composite! A photo-composite combines elements from multiple shots into a single image. Show us different aspects of you! Check out this super helpful tutorial on how to create a composite image, and this short video for creating layer masks in Photoshop!
And of course, check out the Googles for some more inspiration.

Remember, it is not necessary to work in this Extra Credit piece. It’s extra credit!

*Please note!! You can only submit ONE photo per week, for the week’s challenge. This photo can include the “Extra Credit” part of the challenge, or the “regular” challenge, but you can never submit more than one photo!
