Tips and Tuts for this week:

  • Use similar shapes, lines, and colors in your photo to capture a more unified look. Check out these photos here. Notice how many of them share similar tones or shapes? Use repetition to your advantage!
  • Capture an event of people uniting – weddings, rallies, political debates! While unity is a photographic technique, it is also a human one!
  • Look at this awesome tutorial about using patterns and repetition in photography!
  • Check out some more inspiration. And more. AND MORE!

Extra Credit: “photojournalism”

For some extra credit joojoo, try your hand at photojournalism! They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Photojournalism is the embodiment of that statement! Photojournalism is a form of journalism where the images tell the story, rather than the words. There are three rules that must be adhered to in order for a photo to be considered photojournalistic! One, photos need to have a context that relate to current events. Two, the photo has to be a fair and accurate representation of the event captured. And three, the photo should be able to be combined with other news sources, in order to make the events relatable to all readers.

Check out the Googles for some more inspiration.

Remember, it is not necessary to keep this Extra Credit challenge in mind while shooting. It’s extra credit!

*Please note!! You can only submit ONE photo per week, for the week’s challenge. This photo can include the “Extra Credit” part of the challenge, or the “regular” challenge, but you can never submit more than one photo!
