It's Week #35: Windows

To be shot and submitted between Monday, August 22 and Sunday August 28, 2016 (midnight, Eastern)

As photographers we have the powerful ability to share a glimpse of a small part of the world with everyone else. Sometimes, you might even say that our photos are a window into our own worlds! This week, we’re going to take that literally, and capture that window. Your challenge is to take a piece of a structure that you rarely think twice about, and put what you see in a frame for all of us to see.

Tips and Tuts for this week:

  • Have fun with your perspective! Try using the same window for several different shots. Try taking a photo from the inside looking out, the outside looking in, or looking down from a high window
  • Use your window to frame your subject. Depending on your light, this can help create a cool silhouette image (in case you missed your chance last week!)
  • Inspiration, inspiration, and more inspiration!

Extra Credit: Window Light

For some extra credit joojoo, use the light from your window to your advantage! Window light can be great for shooting portraits or capturing rays of sun streaming into the room. Consider using a reflector in order to avoid harsh shadows. To make your own, check out this handy tutorial!

Remember, it is not necessary to keep this Extra Credit challenge in mind while shooting. It’s extra credit!

*Please note!! You can only submit ONE photo per week, for the week’s challenge. This photo can include the “Extra Credit” part of the challenge, or the “regular” challenge, but you can never submit more than one photo!
