I like your edit, it brings out the details of the roots leading up into the tree.  There's a bit of twist to the trunk (all trees do that, sort of, as they follow the sun) and it adds some vertigo to the image along with the slanted wall in the background.  My eyes want to stare at the deep magenta bougainvillea in the background but your leading lines keep bringing me back to circling up the tree, like an inverted tornado!

I really like that thick, strong root leading us up into the curve of the tree.

I might just have cropped it so the trunk was in the top corner to really emphasise the leading line but, I appreciate that would have removed some of the roots at the bottom which are more your focus.
