I was at a book reading and was totally distracted by the woman in front of me. Her hair had such texture and form. She was gracious enough to allow me to take her picture. I made it black and white to emphasize the complement of the colors. I had taken beautiful pics of amaryllis but ...

Hi, Susan — While the idea of complementary colors is that together they would make something grayish, the challenge was to use two colors from the color wheel. The definition is: "Complementary colors are pairs of colors which, when combined or mixed, cancel each other out by producing a grayscale color like white or black. When placed next to each other, they create the strongest contrast for those two colors. Complementary colors may also be called "opposite colors"
