It just occurred to me that I also have my mother's trunk - or at least the one she refinished and had in her living room for years and years. It very well could have been her father's - I wish I could ask her a million questions now. It would be a wonderful wabi sabi. I know this means the world to you and I'm so happy you have this remembrance and this photo to tell your family about the history. I shall have to take a picture of my mother's trunk for next year's wabi sabi and tell its story. Thanks.
