I've lived in South Carolina for 74 years and just learned about this bridge. It used to be a wooden bridge to the state capital of Columbia. I discovered Saturday this bridge was burned in 1865 by the confederate army to slow Sherman's advance. I wish I could show you the old pictures, but ...
