I like this photo, and the unique bands around the pepper. It's almost a sepia color, isn't it? That makes it spicier than plain black and white. To increase (decrease?) the minimalism, I would suggest a plain white background. But the speckles of the granite make a fun contrast against the smooth tones and even lines of the pepper, and I like it this way.
