Not sure if it was intention, but I almost immediately started trying to read the text on the wine glass. I often play with scrolling when I check out people's photos and, despite your description, I actually really like this shot with the yellow cropped out. I find it accentuates the diagonal shadows in an interesting way. Just a thought...
