“ Wind in my sail ”

I knew I wanted to capture a sailboat today and that the ocean provides a lot of opportunity for clean negative space. Got lucky with a yellow one which provided a nice contrast against the blue

I do like that the boat is almost out of the picture, as if leaving that negative space behind. The horizon line might be a little off, but I'd say you succeeded with your mission of getting a sailboat on such beautiful waters.

Having the boat in the left third creates some tension for the viewer. Typical placement would be on the right to allow room for the boat to advance. Your composition… more

Having the boat in the left third creates some tension for the viewer. Typical placement would be on the right to allow room for the boat to advance. Your composition takes that away from us, making us wonder what is just outside the left of the frame. Well done.

Nicely done with the contrasting colors Allen. I like the way the blues of the water and sky are very close as well. The boat seems a bit close to the edge, but otherwise the composition is solid. There's a good sense of motion in here too.
