The train rounds a shallow bend just under a mile from were I stood to take the shot and enters a straight tunnel about half a mile long (built in 1840) and then passes under two old road bridges before veering left, thereby missing the artist (me) on it's way to Scotland (I think). I figured ...

    You really nailed this hot, Alan, and the train works really well as a spof. Excellent timing required, I imagine. I thought you covered the safety issue well in the story. Ours are almost fully fenced, of course, but there is clearly a sensitivity around railway shots in the States. Perhaps they have more unfenced railways and a consequent high casualty rate.
