Taking this picture with the sun works well. I like the interplay of light and shadow.

I think it needs more of a focal point. For me, I like the spot just inside the sunny patch where you can still see the grass under the tree.

The 'V' of the trees, letting in the blue sky, adds to the composition, bring your eye to that sunny patch. I love the gentle, serene feel to this photo.
