“ High-rise Chimney ”

Took this from my hotel room in Frankfurt, Germany.

It was a dark and gloomy morning, with the sun rising amidst dark rain clouds in the skies.
The industrial chimney (hidden from view) behind the building, gave the illusion of smoke raising from the roof of the building.

I like your use of negative space and the way the smoke looks like it is coming from the building. Agree with the other comments suggesting trying to separate the smoke… more

I like your use of negative space and the way the smoke looks like it is coming from the building. Agree with the other comments suggesting trying to separate the smoke from the cloud a bit more, a little more contrast might do it, but I wouldn't want to lose the nice sheen you have on the building.

Certainly dark and gloomy and the ominous cloud neg space adds to the mood. The smoke adds mystery (glad you explained) but perhaps a bit more contrast to separate from being lost in the cloud? Nice shot nevertheless.

I do not live that far away from Frankfurt, so I know all about the dark gloomy weather in the fall and winter. But you turned it into an interesting shot. I like the faded (other) building tops to give context, but would probably clone away the bit right in the center bottom.
