Windmill

The Netherlands has over 1100 windmills and I really wanted to shoot one for this week's theme. We have so many windmills because they ensured that water was drained and therefore the land was not flooded. This was necessary because the Netherlands is 26% below sea level...

I love the Netherlands and this image is so reminiscent of my visits to that area. Every time a load would become available for that area of Europe I would jump on it! You've taken a wonderful image of something so iconic and needed for life to thrive in that area!

So they are super important. (i thought it was for energy) but i guess i was kind of right - as they use the energy they create to do all of these things..
But wow! Stunning capture. the windmill is perfect

Beautiful picture, I find. I like the scene you have pictured and the composition you have chosen. Great black and white rendering, I find. I also love one detail: the small wheel on the box in the foreground that is repeating the windmill pattern (lovely emphasis on this one since it is rendered white).
