“ Remnants of a Pier ”
On a beautiful sunny winters day I took a trip to the coast. It was an area I did not know so I was very happy to come across the ruins of an old pier. I found the texture and patterns on this wood fascinating .

The textures, colors and little bits of bokeh in the background are great! For constructive criticism, it might be nice to see with more rocks in the foreground to give a little more distance for the eyes to travel before reaching the old pier. That's just a thought though- it's a beautiful photo.

This is a great subject, you've used the light brilliantly - to demonstrate the texture of the pebbles and the form of the wooden pillar. The subject is isolated by this contrast really nicely, as well as by it's brilliance across the shadows. Outside the vertical subject, you have some lovely diagonal shadows, and then a heavy horizontal shadowed area at the top, which actually detracts quite a lot from the main area. You had to include it or you would have lost the top of your subject, but was there an eyeline that would have enabled it's exclusion - or was this the best PoV? I suspect it was, this is a static subject, so you had time to choose. The colours are lovely - enhanced by the afternoon (I suspect) light. Superb

The play of light and shadows is so mesmerizing sometimes!  A lovely and calming picture. Great job
