“ Logs ”

I struggled a bit with this week's photo. I went to a wetland centre and took hundreds of photos but none really seemed to work. This lone feather was floating on water and caught my eye. I love the reflection and how the area being reflected almost looks like eyelashes.

Very pretty image Ann. It does look like eyelashes. I do think I would prefer if a higher f-stop had been used the have the entire feather in focus.

This is an interesting take. I feel a clash between the plain of focus and the brightest area of the image - my eye is being drawn to the back of the feather, and when it gets there it feels dissatisfied as what's there isn't in focus. By contrast the focused part is dark, and very detailed, and very eye catching - especially against the lovely bokeh of the background, and I love that those two rings of ripples form a beautiful diagonal through the image.

Yes! Eyelashes were my first thought, too! This is beautiful and you've caught the delicacy of the feather so nicely. Black and white is a perfect choice for this shot. The only thing I wonder is whether reducing the highlight on the feather would help bring out some more detail in the white part. Such a lovely shot, Ann!
