Asking a random in the street is not something I am comfortable with (altho' I sometimes wish I was) so I eased myself in by asking someone I have talked to before, but who's name I did not know and who I would not ordinarily ask for a photo. Love this. I was considering going to the dog park to find my stranger. I only recently learned my next door neighbor's name (and therefore didn't think the shot I got of their toddler while wandering the neighborhood counted), but I've known their dog's name for years.

Alison I think this is a great portrait and I don’t think your settings were too far out to be honest. Love the story behind this too and like that you are taking baby steps and next time maybe will have more confidence next time. That’s what I’ve done, wouldn’t have dreamed of asking a stranger last year
