Kristan, nice sharp focus on a moving player. I agree with Gale, that the player's expression/emotion is what makes a great sports shot. You got a good one here. My tip would be to try get a shot of her with the ball, it adds a little to the action shot.

Kirstan, great stop action on the player. Even in harsh sunlight, you got good exposure on the player's face. I did a lot of high school sports and learned that it's all about the player's facial expression. If I could share one tip: choose an aperture that gives a shallow depth of field. Out of focus backgrounds puts the viewer's eye on the subject.
