Very good idea with a drammatic silhouette on simple background. I like also textures of sand and water and empty space around... it is very effective here… more

For the rule of thirds you could go lower, to have the horison one the 1/3 from the upper margin (also because the sky is not very interesting here) and you could crop on the right, to have the person 1/3 from the left margin.
