“ Walking on Water - Rule of Thirds ”
Is it ok to crop a photo with the subject leaving the frame? I usually don’t, but I thought in this case it would be important to show the trail of water. Thoughts?

It is okay to break the rules. Typically, a close crop on the 'wrong' side of the subject causes tension or discomfort in the viewer. I like that you have included the water trail. With this crop it suggests to me that the goose is trying to escape. Just my 2 cents.

I like the trail of water. I think you are right to include it.  If you had moved the angle of your camera a bit perhaps you could have had more space in front of the bird that is leaving the frame.  For me it wouldn't have mattered if the other bird disappeared from the shot as for me the photo is about the bird that is leaving the water trail.  Nice photo. I like it
