This is a "ladder", one of the first shapes learned in the game of go. The lines drawn on the goban lead to the isolated white stone, but this is a misdirection, this stone is not relevant, while the isolated black stone is the key to this situation.

    Quick! Put a black stone in the open spot before they get taken!  I like the balance of the board in this shot.  The distant white and black stones make a surprisingly pleasant geometry, making the "overweight" left side feel more even somehow.  Lovely low point of view, too.
