Not quite perfect but the steps either side of the hand rail gives some symmetry.

Cool shot. At first I thought it was with a crystal sculpture at the base of the stairs. Had to read your description to see the railing. Fun.

I blame the builders for being a bit out, I'm sure that handrail is not aligned with the doorway!
I like the colour palette and the stonework.
