“ Sunlit Aurora ”
As you can see, this Aurora was in full blast long before dusk had turned into actual night time. The geomagnetic storm had gone on all day and we were ready as soon as the sun had gone down. I changed the spot shortly after this photo but in the end it turned out my favourite. With my love for ...

Originally meant as a Streak Keeper this has grown on me, even though it is just a crappy cell phone pic. I took it while doggie was having his surgery. The mood totally fit. The night before was sleepless, mostly because of the relentless heat that night. The next day temperatures had dropped a lot but we didn't feel it because of the lingering humidity. The day was overcast, the sea super calm, it was almost unreal and I felt detached and deeply exhausted. This photo kind of shows it as much as it is a remedy against it. Paradox!

I think this would have been the best choice for the EC, had I just focused on said foreground. Because I didn't the whole photo feels soft, even though it isn't really. Which is why I didn't put it up. But I do love how the colour of the foreground (see next comment about where that came from) complements the now lowly glowing Aurora that came to hold on through the night.

Certainly the most spectacular photo from that night with a G3 storm maximum. I didn't put this up as submission because I had been sloppy with the railing and the houses between. I am very much irked by the fact that I forgot to postion them on the top of the railing. I had been here before during an NLC night (remember?) and then I thought about it. I also thought about later on, but then the G3 storm had abated and become a low glow that lasted most of the night. The green lighting comes from a group of three light columns that are perpetually changing colour. They are positioned around this inland lake and it's fun to try out which colours go best with the actual subject, in this case the Aurora. Blue went amazing with NLCs, no surprise there.
