“ Cherry Cream Puff Rings ”
One of the local bakeries, where my friend works, had these pastries for sale today. Lucky I came in search for smething to shoot and they immediately caught my eye. I've never seen anything like it and also, red is a colour I don't shoot that much. So grabbed a few, got some cherry jelly and a ...

While looking at my files I saw that they looked like a time lapse, so I thought I'd make a short video for you to see how the setup happened. Cannot load it here, but you can just click on the link. It's nothing fancy, it's really just a photo presentation, but if you look closely you can easily see how I used the Golden Triangle principle and built from there with all the small steps, even when I realized that I had the wrong white balance or that I wasn't happy with one light source😅

Triangular Composition is kind of a standard in food photography. When I'm outside I don't often use this grid/principle for my compositions, but diagonals are very important with food. This grid shows the Golden Triangle. To use it you position your items
    a) along the diagonal lines
    b) on the intersections and/or
    c) as blocks within the lines.

I chose the first two options here.

As you can see I used two lights, experimenting with mixed lighting. I used the diffused one from the back and the directional light a bit higher and a bit to the left. I had already taken the camera off the tripod but you can imagine where it was, I think. Not in the shot is my white reflectore which I held while shooting. That went on the bottom end of the setup to fill in shadows.
I wanted to use the Golden Triangle composition grid so I started with placing the plates there. Everything else then step by step, as I usually do it. It took a few shots to have it all aligned perfectly. With an f/8 aperture getting everyting is focus was rather easy. So once I got my shot, all that was needed in editing was harmonizing the lighting a bit, adding a bit of clarity to the cream puff rings and removing some spots etc. I then added a bit of contrast globally, that's it.
