“ This Mallard escaped the Maillard effect ? ”
The Boise area has a lot of wild life literally in our own backyards. This weekend I we had sunshine, wind, and snow. I struggled with choosing between spring flowers, heavy snow falling against several natural backdrops, and a pretty awesome drone shot of tree symmetry from above. This little ...

Mallards are attractive, with that lovely green head, I can see why he was your favourite. I would have liked it a bit brighter, to really show off his colours, maybe a higher ISO? I can see a hint of the eye and a catch light, which is great, but it would pack a bit more punch if I could see it even more. The focal plane looks spot on and a suitable depth of focus, blurring out the foreground and background to avoid any distraction. For me, I would have positioned him with more space to look into and less space behind (to the right), or place him more in the middle, to better balance the composition.

You capture good detail of the mallard. Nicely done Barry.
