Never used a sphere before and I would say it was quite challenging - I played with the flash and I really how the flash eluminated the sphere and add an outline effect.

    Using a glass ball can be fun but it is really challenging to have enough light without creating unwanted glare or highlights. I do like the rim light you have created… more

    Using a glass ball can be fun but it is really challenging to have enough light without creating unwanted glare or highlights. I do like the rim light you have created around the sphere but for me there is no focal point. Something would normally clearly be reflected/refracted in the ball. I think a higher aperture for sharpness, single point focus on the ball  and a tripod with a slower SS to improve light, so no flash needed... happy framing
