    Considering that the water is "blank" as far as a background goes, I don't think having the horizon that high is taking away as much negative space as it might… more

    Considering that the water is "blank" as far as a background goes, I don't think having the horizon that high is taking away as much negative space as it might otherwise. One thing to consider, though, would be getting a little lower, which would have framed him against the sky a bit more.
