“ A Groove Icon ”
I've been doing a bit of work with a band recently (Groove Icons) and asked the singer if he would come do a photo shoot for this week's challenge. I was inspired by Platon - I love his wide angle portraits, so I researched his set-up and recreated it.

    The set up:
    - Single flash head with a large softbox.
    - White paper backdrop (I re-set this up after the shoot... I had more paper out, and nothing behind it!) This was used for most of the photos I took... obviously I used a black back drop for the one I chose!
    - A black pop up each side to stop reflected light - this was also used as the black backdrop for the portrait I used as the final submission.
    - I set the lens at 24mm for all the wide shots and 50mm for the close ups.
    - A small stool to sit on (although I also brought in a wingback armchair for some shots - see the alternative!)

Finally, whenever I write about playing in bands, people always ask to hear them... here are the Groove Icons playing an impromptu show last week:

This is a wonderful portrait! Well composed and beautifully lit. I love it, but he could be if any profession. Your other one screams "funky musician", so I wouldn't care if it's not as technically correct or not, that's my choice for favorite by far!!!
