I was on a hike with a friend when we turned a corner to see this beautiful hawk sitting on a sign post. My friend asked, "is that real?" at the same time that the hawk moved its head. We didn't dare move any closer for fear of scaring the hawk away. Unlucky for me, I only had my cell phone on ...

I have walked that trail a bazillion times and never seen the hawk on that post. You caught the scene perfectly - on a good day like that the Arsenal is very rewarding.
