My kids hated going to swim lessons, so much so that i made a deal with them. They could stop going to lessons if they came with me to the pool every Saturday morning until they could swim 1 km freestyle without stopping.  It was a win win for me - not having to sit through the lessons and I'd have company on my Saturday swims, at least for maybe, 6 months? But of course I'd not counted on Steph's determination.  I remember it vividly - the slow, incredulous realisation, as every lap went by on that first Saturday swim, that Steph was going to smash out the 1 km right there and then. Snap, whistle, swing, stroke.  I hope never to underestimate her (or anyone's) abilities again. Thanks Kathy for modelling and you all for following my ramblings. Have a good week. ✌️?

I love the story of self determination - she will go far. The photo is also really strong. Great lighting.

I can see what an excellent dad you were then because your kids are still strong, resilient and determined people now.  X
