I gather Photoshop's content aware fill might be able to remove the string, but I use GIMP and though there's a plugin called Resynthesizer that should do something… more

I gather Photoshop's content aware fill might be able to remove the string, but I use GIMP and though there's a plugin called Resynthesizer that should do something similar I can't get good results with it. Google Photos' Magic Erase was super quick and easy - the horizontal string is magically gone, but the vertical string looks smudgy. Oh well.
