    I like the concept of making this photo look like a painting.  I can imagine the painting hanging in a Victorian era gallery.  However, I agree that the technique can be quite challenging to use.

    Abe, there are a bunch of "paint" filters and options depending upon the edit program you're using. Most of them are okay but don't quite get to where you'd like them to go. It takes quite a lot of experimentation and time to take the techniques beyond their limitations. One thing I might suggest here would be to create a mask in the shape of just the red blooms and then bring back a bit of your original photo so that those flowers regain some of the detail that's lost to the filter process.
