“ Forest Creature ”

Out on a photo walk in Sherwood Forest I spotted this "creature" who is the end of a fallen log. A wide aperture and a longish focal length brings it out from the detritus of the forst floor.

I like your story and I like the left side of the image. The right side of the image is just confusing. the left side has some great colors and textures and some great shadows. I think I'd try a square crop that cuts out most of the right side and see what it looked like. I think the "creature" would stand out a little better.
