    I don't find the other elements distracting Carmel,as we are so readily drawn into the frame. I'm glad he's not smiling. You've caught the honesty of his request. I love his steady gaze and the tones. They remind me of a Norman Rockwell painting. An excellent portrait and  composition.

    A great pose for the theme. I never have much success with removing items - it is certainly not as easy as the tuturials make it look.
