One of the things that really saddens me is graves that have been left to become ruins. Although they are highly photogenic, I find myself thinking of the person and their death. In this case over 150 years ago a family in a village in North Yorkshire were gathered around their loved one's ...

Please excuse me for commenting my own photo but I ran out of room for adding what I feel are important artistic details.
This was done in monochrome to emphasise the bleakness of the subject matter, underexposure adding to the feeling. The far side of the headstone is also darkened, as are the surrounds to contrast the darkness of infinity with the light of life. The image floats on a 'cloud' shadow, to emphasise the tenuous nature of life and how it blows away. The white, over-wide mat represents the infinite and how we all become part of it.
Sorry to be a downer but this really got to me.
