Since joining I have come to terms with how bad I am and how much there is to learn. My work will never make the weekly showcase album or top honors. But I still shoot anyway. The process ends up being more rewarding then the product.

    Such lovely words about your mom, but I would not describe your work as "bad". You may have technical things to learn, but your art should reflect what you like and what you want to portray and it doesn't make a bit of difference if it wins any honors. Just keep shooting!

    If your mum is that good, then it is in you too. Just practice and some good comments from fellow photographers will do the trick. My suggestion is that you find shots from your mum or others and then on a new day try shooting the same shot. It will be different lighting, new people and lens choice and immediately you can call it your own shot .
