Portraits are definitely not my thing when it comes to photography. I wasn't even going to attempt this challenge. Then as I was visiting with a friend, I noticed the afternoon sunlight hitting the side of his head. He agreed to pose so I grabbed my camera, switched to my 50mm lens and took 3 ...

Nice, natural looking portrait. I really like the thin slice of light around his neck and face. I find the paintings on the wall a little distracting, but it would perhaps require some advanced photoshopping to remove them. Good choice of DOF to blur out the background.
