you have a compelling photo and a powerful story. Your use of backlighting really strengthens the colours of the flag. I know most of us are used to the aspect ratio we are given in the camera, however, I think the image would have been strengthened using a 16:9 aspect ratio, which would eliminate some of the distracting foreground, otherwise your subject is presented in a very effective way, and I understand your fear. nice work.
