“ Aerial Ropeway trestle ”

The aerial ropeway helped transport lead ore from mines in the Shropshire hills to the railway line a few miles away. It closed in 1925 when the mines became uneconomic.

I came across this monument to a lost way of life when walking in the Shropshire hills
