    I am guessing a musical instrument as well.  I can see how lighting would be a really challenge on this but you have controlled for over exposure well.  Bracketing the shot and going for HDR type might also have been worth a try.

    I guess a part of a musical instrument. I think whatever contortions this cost you, the lighting and focus is good. The choice of DOF worked well to give context, in terms of one of many tuning pins, with just enough blur for the background.
