This is Calypso (blue band) she is an endangered Easten Osprey from South Australia where the species have seen a 22% decline in the past 10 years. She has been banded to make it easier to track her movements and hopefully provide data that will lead to the species recovery.

    Oh wow! Totally cool that you are a part of keeping track of bird species in order to help them recover from extinction. I would love to watch and photograph birds all day! I think they are the most interesting creatures, well besides humans. Wonderful shot Fran!

    Wow, Fran I did not realise how endangered the Calypso is here in South Australia. This one looks very young which I suppose is encouraging in one way. Beautifully shot.
