“ Pearls of Light ”
When I spotted this spiderweb glistening with pearly drops of morning dew, I knew I wanted to feature it. But how to incorporate the challenge when you can't control the location or can't move it to provide a better photo op? For me, it's the lack of background that would make this image work, ...

Absolutely stunning shot, and I love the story behind this! Your DOF is great, I'm glad you kept it relatively wide so that only the center of the web is fully in focus. The black background was a great choice, very impressive and it really makes the image pop. It could've been nice to have the center of the web a bit higher & to the left to play on the rule of thirds a bit more and add even more depth to the front part of the web, but the way you have it also works great!

I like this on a number of levels. First, it is one of those images you can't tell if it is B&W or color. I love those. Second, the fact that the background isn't quite true black really works for me here. I think I like it better this way than if it had been true black. Next, I think you nailed the depth of field. Very nice with the area of sharp focus on a nice diagonal. Finally, I really like the subject. The dew is nicely uneven and I like how the web isn't perfectly symmetrical.

Overall, nicely done. I don't think I'd change anything.

NOTE: I just noticed that you shot this at 600mm 35mm equivalent. VERY impressive to get that image with that kind of focal length.

The black really makes the dew drops sparkle, good thinking.

Great as a background. I tried one of these myself and it didn't work. This one is fantastic.
