“ Sputnik ”

Sweetgum Ball Seed Pods (also known as Witches Burrs and Witches Spurs). As I grew up my Dad always called them Sputniks., hence the title. This one I freshly picked from the yard, hung in front of a plant my wife had outside sunning, and shot with natural light.

I have a bunch of these that I picked up in a street over 20 years ago. I never knew what the tree was. I love them! Beautiful portrait of a seed pod.
